Pinterest: Light the Shadow

THE CHALLENGE:
At a time when negativity plagues social media, Pinterest stands apart as the #1 social media platform for brand safety, quality content standards, transparency, and reputation. How could they leverage their online strengths for good, to better serve youth in the offline world?

THE SOLUTION:
Taking a stand in the youth mental health crisis, we partnered with the White House and MTV for their Mental Health Youth Summit. To kick-off the week, we created “Light the Shadow”, an interactive evening to spotlight all parts of ourselves, at the Renwick Smithsonian Gallery next to the White House in Washington, DC.

Through engagements powered by Pinterest technology, we invited guests to explore the full range of themselves, even the ones that cause us shame, in an effort to create our fullest acceptance of self. While Pinterest leaders & non-profit grantees served as hosts and moderators throughout the event, the courageous young voices served as the guiding light of the evening.
